STRATA Networks recently announced that they are now offering internet speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second, becoming the first and only internet provider offering Gigabit service to the Uintah Basin over a fiber optic network. Fiber optic infrastructure provides virtually unlimited bandwidth potential and infinite possibilities for future internet applications. With speeds of 1,000 Mbps, Gigabit internet allows customers to almost instantly access all of their favorite online content on multiple devices, without sacrificing speed or connectivity.
“This is a big development for the Uintah Basin,” Bruce Todd, STRATA’s CEO/General Manager, said. “It adds another quality-of-life factor that will help our rural community stay connected to the rest of the world. The possibilities that can come from this are limitless – it has the potential to drive economic growth, increase productivity for local businesses, and to ensure our technology readiness long into the future.”
Irene Hansen, Director of Duchesne County Economic Development, says that this announcement is coming at a crucial time for the Uintah Basin, as businesses work tirelessly to diversify their revenue streams.
“The Uintah Basin currently finds itself in a changing economic landscape and many leaders are searching for good news and a light at the end of the tunnel,” said Hansen. “STRATA Networks is offering not just that, but an opportunity that will revolutionize the way business is done. We look forward to a major shift to a dynamic, technology-driven future where residents can pursue careers and opportunities in a global marketplace.”
Gigabit speeds are delivered across STRATA’s fiber optic network, which is the most advanced broadband technology available. This technology has been in the Basin for years; however, in recent months, the cooperative has increased their efforts to expand their network to more Uintah Basin residents.
Currently, there are over 3,500 locations in the Uintah Basin connected to fiber and STRATA anticipates another 500 will be connected by the end of 2017. Those interested in finding out if fiber is available in their area are encouraged to call (435) 622-5007 or visit one of STRATA’s store locations.
Customers in fiber areas can sign up for STRATA’s Gig package for as low as $79.99 per month, when taken with STRATA’s landline phone service.
