Registration is open for the Uintah Basin’s very first Overwatch tournament, brought to you by the STRATA Gaming Series. The tournament is scheduled for August 19th at the Uintah Conference Center and will have teams of six competing to win a $1,000 grand prize.
Gameplay will kick off at 10:00 AM and will follow a double-elimination format with cash prizes awarded to first, second, and third place teams. Tournament matches will be played on the PlayStation 4 gaming console but players will have the option to use their personal Xbox One controller if they prefer. Online registration is open at stratanetworks.com/gaming and is limited to 32 six-player teams so those interested in getting a spot are encouraged to sign up soon.
In addition to the main event, which spectators are welcome to view, there will be several activities open to the public and free to participate in, including the new Nintendo Switch and the latest in virtual reality. The final matches will be broadcast live on VTV Channel 6 and on Twitch for viewers at home.
The Overwatch tournament is the second gaming event hosted by the STRATA Gaming Series. Last August, their inaugural tournament was held, featuring Call of Duty: Black Ops III. The event attracted an estimated 400 people of all ages who shared a passion for gaming and technology.
